Wellness coaches at Kinisi work with you to make changes to better your health and well-being in order to reduce your risk for disease. As part of your coaching you will:

  • Discuss barriers that prevent you from achieving your goals
  • Figure out how you can work to achieve goals in a realistic way
  • Discover ways to make lifelong changes that you have found difficult to do on your own

Your Kinisi wellness coach will work with you and other specialists to create a plan to fit your lifestyle and build long-term success for you. You can expect one-on-one coaching, as well as follow-up phone calls from your Kinisi coach.

About Shelby

What are your areas of expertise?

  • I have a Bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science, with a minor in health education.
  • I also have a Master’s in clinical exercise physiology, both from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.
  • I have a background in cardiac rehabilitation.

What are your areas of special interest?

I enjoy working with patients who need help with chronic disease management.


What is your approach to patient care?

I focus on each person’s individual needs, motivators and challenges to create a plan specific to setting them up for success. My approach is nonjudgmental and my goal as a wellness coach is to help my patients develop strengths and abilities to provide a healthy balance to achieving wellness that fits their lifestyle. Overall, I want to show people that this journey is worth it and can be really fun.


What drew you to the St. Croix Valley?

I grew up visiting the St. Croix Valley for weekend getaways. I always loved the beauty of the area. I love working in an area that has a small community feel.

What are your areas of expertise?

  • I graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College-New Richmond
  • I am certified from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • I am also a certified wellness coach
  • I am currently licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota

What are your areas of special interest?

I am interested in many areas of occupational therapy including: pediatrics, acute care, hand therapy and neurological conditions. I enjoy working with all patients across the lifespan.


What is your approach to patient care?

I believe the patient and therapist should work together as a team with the patient’s best interest at the center. My focus is always to get to know all aspects of each patient, incorporate their goals into occupational therapy treatment and focus on improving each patient’s quality of life. I also believe it is important to work in collaboration with other medical providers and staff to ensure the optimal care for each patient.


What drew you to the St. Croix Valley?

I was born and raised in the area. I am now enjoying raising my own family in the St. Croix Valley and feel fortunate to have our extended family close and a part of our everyday lives.
